Family Promise is a national, non-profit initiative founded in 1986. Family Promise of Southern Chester County, one of over 180 local affiliates, was established in early 2015 after a year of planing and we intend to start operations September, 2015.
Family Promise of Southern Chester County is committed to alleviating homelessness in Southern Chester County, Pennsylvania.
Family Promise of Southern Chester County will:
1) create a sustainable organization with best processes, structures, and leadership;
2) provide a sustainable self-sufficient livelihood consisting of emergency food, shelter and counseling for all families and their children experiencing homelessness in Southern Chester County, Pennsylvania.
494 students were impacted by homelessness during 2013-14 in Southern Chester County’s (SCC) four school districts. This is a dramatic increase from the previous year.
Zero shelter beds exist in our area to keep families together during an already stressful time.
SCC housing costs are far above national average, often requiring up to 80% of paychecks in low-income families to go for housing.
